From Mauritius, Olivier Brique emerged in the late 1990s as a figure of séga love and modern séga. With a warm timbre and a sense of melody, he blends the traditional séga rhythm with contemporary sounds, borrowing from reggae as much as from pop.
He is among the artists who carried Mauritian music to Réunion, Europe and the Seychelles. His songs — « Mon sel rezon », « Solisyon », « Zeness » — speak of love, encounter and faithfulness.
