Pierrot Rosély, who became Pierre Roselli, started out singing in Les Loups, regarded as Réunion's first rock band, in the early 1960s. Winner in 1968 of the ORTF contest « Jeux, Danses et Chansons dans Votre Quartier », he signed with Pathé Marconi and enjoyed wide export success with « Marylou ».
In 1976 he founded the record company PIROS, then opened the Saint-André recording studio in 1979. A figure of popular Creole song, he passed away on 2 May 1996. His repertoire of ségas and romances — « Donne à moin la main », « Marie-Claire », « Le jardin de mon cœur », « L'île lointaine » — remains a reference.
